Vitesse manager Henk Fraser is eager to take revenge on old club ADO Den Haag after losing 1-2 at home earlier this season. Vitesse are unbeaten in 2017 and the players are hoping to take the three points home tonight.
Vitesse are back in the race for the fourth place after an impressive streak in January. The Arnhemmers won against Twente, AZ and drew against Groningen in the Eredivisie. Fraser’s side also knocked league leaders Feyenoord out of the cup and qualified for the semi-finals of the Dutch cup for the first time in 15 years time. Vitesse now sit 7th, but are only 3 point behind fourth-placed Heerenveen.
Opponents ADO are having a disappointing season. The team of Zeljko Petrovic won the second match of the season against Vitesse in Gelredome, 1-2, and had 10 points out of the first four matches. ADO now sit 15th with only 17 points out of 20 matches and are in a relegation battle with Zwolle, Roda JC and Go Ahead Eagles. The club was in financial problems before the winter break, foreign owner Wang didn’t want to pay the bills anymore, but are out of it now after several trials. The club signed Guyon Fernandez (former Excelsior) and Nasser El Khayati (on loan from QPR) on deadline day.
Navarone Foor returns from a two-match suspension following a red card in the away match against Groningen, but the midfielder will start on the bench. Chelsea loanee Nathan impressed as number 10 in the second half of the cup match against Feyenoord and against AZ last week. He will once again start as number 10 tonight.
Vitesse signed Mukhtar Ali and Kevin Diks on loan during the last days of the transfer window. Both players will be part of the matchday squad against ADO, but will start on the bench. Ali will also play with Jong Vitesse in the Tweede Divisie against Spakenburg tomorrow.
Predicted XI: Room; Leerdam, Kashia, Van der Werff, Kruiswijk; Nakamba, Baker, Nathan; Rashica, Van Wolfswinkel & Tighadouini
Henk Fraser:’ The last two matches were tough, but I am very satisfied with the results we got. It is nice to return to ADO, but I want to win this time. It is never nice to lose against friends. There are no excuses anymore, we want to win against ADO. We are trying to play well, the boys also did that last season, but I want to see more fighting spirit and mentality in my team. I think we have shown that the last few matches after the winter break and we want to show it against ADO tomorrow too.
I think we have more quality in our team than ADO. We have been playing well the last few weeks, while ADO lost all matches in 2017. I am going for a 0-2 Vitesse win.
